The efficiency of port logistics has a direct impact on trade and investment environment of a country or region. In response to the requirement of Chongqing port development, this institute undertakes a comprehensive and in-depth study in the efficiency of port customs clearance, port radiation, as well as port logistics and export-oriented economy. The research is featured as application-oriented, multidisciplinary, comprehensive, strong and close relationships between theories with practice. The efficiency research on port customs clearance is focused on optimizing and building a new clearance model with high efficiency; The research on port radiation capability is focused on upgrading port competitive force; The research on port logistics and export-oriented economy is focused on the modern port logistics which drives export-oriented economic development.

This institute has also carried out the projects ofChongqing Municipal Waterways Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan,Chongqing Municipal Waterways Transport Twelfth Five-Year Development Plan, and Chongqing PortSustainable Development, etc.
Research achievements include the third prize of China Logistics Association because ofChongqing Port Customs Clearance Status Quo, Problems and RecommendationsandChongqing Foreign Trade Transportation Corridor Status Quo, Problems and Recommendations. The special planning reports have been or are being implemented by Chongqing Municipal Government Port Office, Chongqing Municipal Foreign Economic and Trade Commission, etc. Meanwhile the institute has actively organized a wide range of academic exchange forums and has successfully hosted theChina Association for Science and Technology: a major corridor of the inland international trade forums, andChina Association for Science and Technology: the upper reaches of the Yangtze River transport hub forums. The long-term research on special topics has come up with an innovative research team, whose research capability has been gradually improved with growing influence.

The institute has actively conducted the practical exploration, optimized all-round to break through the bottleneck of customs clearance, so as to facilitate enterprises to reduce business costs and improve operational efficiency. The relevant theoretical studies and practical exploration not only enhance the customs clearance efficiency and port radiation function, but also promote the implementation of relevant national policies and the revitalizing scheme, which has a significant and strategic meaning for the regional economic integration.
Chongqing port logistics has achieved certain development, but there is still a large gap compared with the economic developed areas domestically and internationally. Thus the research on port logistics has an important practical significance and application value of the opening up, coordinated development and all-round prosperity of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River economic zone, in order to strengthen the industrial connections between Chongqing and the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and the western regions, and to promote the integrate combination of Chongqing port development and relevant industries clusters.
