Characteristics of this institute

In the context of global economic integration, to further speed up the integration with the international market, China has established the Bonded Zone as a unique opening mode, following the example of foreign Freeport, in the form of a free trade zone and in combination with the characteristics of the Chinese socialist market economic system. Bonded Logistics is a logistics management model resulted from the global operations of multinational companies, the upgrading of the manufacturing sector, the international distribution development, and innovation of transport mode, production means and marketing.

The research areas target the emerging issues during the development of bonded logistics, such as bonded logistics planning, development strategy, operational mode as well as logistics park management. The institute aims to carry out fundamental theoretical research on the development of bonded logistics and bonded zone, focusing on practical exploration. The development of bonded logistics and bonded zone is new; therefore the research needs to draw on the experience of related disciplines domestically and abroad, with the features of cutting-edge, comprehensive, complex, multi-disciplinary, integrating theory closely with practice and so on.

Academic position

Researchers from the institute have strong research capabilities and they are capable of integrating port development planning and logistics theory and applying them. The institute has in-depth cooperation with the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Commission, Chongqing Municipal Foreign Economic and Trade Commission, The Administrative Committee of Lianglu - Cuntan Bonded Port Zone, The Shipping Authority, The Minsheng Shipping and other enterprises and institutions. The institute has a solid foundation in the research of logistics, supply chain management and regional economics.

The Institute has undertaken various research projects, such as the Effect and Dynamic Mechanism of Western Logistics Driven Power On Modern Service Sectors (the project of the Education Ministry, 10XJA790009), Enterprise Operational Logistics Mode (commissioned by enterprises), The Logistics Performance Assessment In the Bonded Zone (commissioned by enterprises), etc. Research papers have been derived from these projects and published as intermediate outcomes. At present, a lot of resources have been allocated into this institute to ensure the irreplaceable and unique academic advantages and position in the research areas of bonded logistics and development of bonded zones.

The role and significance

The research directly service the Government Port Office, the Foreign Economic and Trade Committee, the Administrative Committee of the Bonded Port Zone, The Free Trade Zone and Bonded Logistics Center Management Committee, aiming at promoting the development of port development and port logistics.

The institute research objectives are Chongqing Bonded Port Zone, The Bonded Zone, Bonded Logistics and the problems facing the development of the Bonded Zone. The institute is supposed to provide theoretical and strategic support for the bonded logistics and the development of the bonded zone. Through a systematic study, the institute strives to form the basic theoretical framework for the development of bonded logistics and bonded zone. It targets at research on emerging issues and transform the theories into practical guidance, to contribute to the development of China bonded zone.

Being new concepts, bonded zones and bonded logistics are facing a lot of practical problems that need solving urgently. The institute setup plays a pulling effect on promoting the local economic development, enhancing the level of openness, undertaking the industrial transformation, increasing foreign investment and so on. Therefore, this institute has both theoretical and practical significance.
